Recently I was theVideographer for the 1/2 pint poetics held at Depaul Unv (Lincoln Park). The event was put together by Kuumba Lynx ( Kuumbalynx.org ) Check them out!! Ladies & Gentlemen I was amazed by the content, considering all of the poets who performed were children under the age of 13 & some of the ages went as low as 7 years old. It was inspiring to hear today’s Youth expressing their feeling about topics like: Modern Slavery, Violence from domestic to everyday street Violence, Drugs, Crime, Saving the Planet & much more.

I took a lot away from this experience, I wasn’t ready for the content that some of these children were expressing, I had no idea. I understand & feel what the children were saying, but we, or I forget that They (the Children) experience the same things we as Adults experience. The difference between the children & myself is I’m locked in, I don’t pay as much attention to these Things that happen, with the Violence & Crime I just mark it down as the way life works, the way the World turns, but The Children don’t except this!! The Children want to know Why are “World” revolves like this! They want to know Why does it have to be like this! It feels great when I consider what I normally experience from the Inner City Youth! Life is about Hope, & these Children have given me a lot more HOPE!!

In all it was just wonderful to experience Children with Real Thoughts & Real Emotion about their common man. Never Forget that our Expressions are what makes us Human, Please tell the world what you think before time passes you by!
