When the Hot 8 Brass Band touched down in Prague, they didn’t just perform, they baptized the Rock Café in New Orleans soul.

Before the show even kicked off, I caught the band outside the venue, just chillin,’ real down to earth energy. We chopped it up, laughed a bit, and it set the tone for what would become a night dripping in pure culture and connection.

This wasn’t just a concert. This was a second line marching through the heart of Europe.

As the band took the stage, the crowd instantly locked in. That NOLA sound? It travels. Brass, bass, bounce, and rhythm met Czech soul head on. And the people responded with love, with their hands up, bodies moving, energy flooding the space from front to back. At one point, the entire venue was waving side to side in sync with the horns, caught up in that unmistakable New Orleans groove.

One of the most emotional highlights of the night was their rendition of Love Will Tear Us Apart, a moment I’ve embedded below. The way Hot 8 flipped that into something soulful and resonant… it hit deep. Not just a cover, but a translation of feeling, reimagined through brass.
