The Pharcyde: One of the Greatest Groups I’ve Ever Witnessed
Last week, June 9th, I had the honor of sitting down with two Hip Hop legends, Imani and Slimkid3 of The Pharcyde. We recorded this conversation on video, and it’s one I’m proud to share with the world. While Fatlip was still in Poland and Bootie Brown wasn’t part of the current conversation, the energy was raw, honest, and full of perspective.
We talked about the origin of The Pharcyde, how the fellas first met, and how time, understanding, and real brotherhood brought them back together. This wasn’t about drama or rehashing old wounds, it was about growth. It was about letting go of the past and moving forward with love and maturity.
But my favorite moment of the entire interview?
I got to tell them face to face that they are one of my favorite groups of all time. Not just in rotation, but stained in my brain forever.
Why?
Because back in 1995, I saw them live for the very first time The Pharcyde, Goodie Mob, and The Roots all on one bill. That concert is still the greatest Hip Hop show I have ever experienced. The energy, the performance, the experience that night shaped how I view live Hip Hop forever.
This interview isn’t just for fans, it’s also for real lovers of the culture. If you’ve ever connected with Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde, Labcabincalifornia, or just respect real artistry, this conversation will move you.
Watch it. Share it. Hip Hop is alive and well.
Peace,
