This week on Africa Incorporated, I dedicated the show to some of the producers who’ve helped shape my sound and spirit, both as a DJ and a listener. From legends to emerging voices, these are the names that leave fingerprints on the music we love.

We opened with Roy Ayers remixed by 9th Wonder, a beautiful blend of sunshine soul and North Carolina grit. I reflected on how I met Khrysis back when he was touring with Little Brother, a young talent sharpened by the very same 9th Wonder. From there we rode through heat from Tall Black Guy, Conductor Williams, and Maverick Soul, whose early experiments with drum and bass and EDM still echo in his soulful work today.

I gave love to newer names like Yaahn Hunter Jr., whose gospel roots shine through every synth stab and I closed out the set strong with giants like Pete Rock, Diamond D, DJ Premier, and Kaytranada.
