Another Tuesday, another dose of raw curation on The Ride with ChuckDiesal. This ain’t passive listening. This is global fire filtered through soul, culture, and bars. I opened with buttery smooth R&B and Soul: Victoria Noelle, Jane Handcock, Syd, Amber Mark, and the Queen herself, MIMI aka Mariah Carey. Yes, she back, and I had to drop that “Type Dangerous” after peeping the visuals.
Then in the second hour, it was strictly hip hop. We’re talking culture keepers and new assassins. Clipse dropped two that shook the room, PJ Morton & La Reezy glided through, Boldy James proved he doesn’t sleep (man got like 12 projects in 15 months), and Skepta reminded y’all why UK rap can’t be slept on, whether or not Drake co signs it.
Open Mike Eagle got cerebral. Grafh & Busta Rhymes kicked doors in. Apollo Brown came gritty. And yes, Mimi, you still got it.
This show is alive with everything moving across the culture, from Afrofusion to Alt Rap to hard knock boom bap. If you’re sleeping on this new wave, I’m here to shake it up.
