Soul. Spirit. Culture. Global flavor. All in one ride.

On this week’s Freedom Thursday, ChuckDiesal kept the needle deep in the crate, connecting eras, regions, and genres with surgical precision. This show glided from pure soul into “full bodied “Dope” Hip Hop with a few surprise stops along the way. It was a celebration of smooth energy, cultural insight, and unapologetic bars.

Soul energy was in full effect. This Freedom Thursday was rich with grooves, bars, and legacy. The first stretch leaned into smooth, powerful vibrations from legends like Maze & Frankie Beverly, Mary J. Blige, and Nu Shooz. I let the soul breathe through new sounds from Tanisha, Reuben James, Laila!, and more. Even some quiet gospel notes and jazz textures slid in to elevate the space.

Then we switched gears. From Migos to KELLS & JAY, Alkaholiks to Fly Anakin, the second half was all about that raw Hip Hop delivery. Chicago came heavy with King Louie and Lil Durk, while joints from Knucks, Russ, JID, and DJ Premier gave this ride a global weight. There were just good records with real rotation for the culture.

This show was about soul energy. Real rhythms, storytelling, connection. This is what Freedom Thursday is made for, music that reflects the moment but honors where we came from.
