On this week’s Freedom Thursday (July 24, 2025), ChuckDiesal lit the fuse with a Prince inspired set that honored the Minneapolis sound and its legendary ripple effect. From The Time to Sheila E and Vanity 6, the energy was funk forward and unapologetically purple.

Then he came with the alt-rock meets hip-hop section. De La Soul & Teenage Fanclub, Public Enemy & Anthrax, Onyx & Biohazard. Throw in Rage Against The Machine and Beastie Boys? Straight head nods and raw synergy. Prodigy’s Breathe sealed the deal and ensured the first hour climax.

The second hour dove deep into Memphis grit: Three 6 Mafia, Project Pat, Gangsta Boo, and the South’s unsung bangers. After that? A full on Wu Tang orbit with Inspectah Deck, Ghostface, ODB, and Method Man holding it down w/ MJB and we sprinkled in R&B royalty with Faith Evans, Brandy, Monica.

To wrap things with soul, Lenny Fontana’s house anthem Spread Love took us home.
