August 7th’s Freedom Thursday was a straight trip into the golden era — all old school hip hop, no compromises. I pulled cuts from heavy crews like Boot Camp ClikRoc-A-FellaD.I.T.C., and The Firm.

The set opened with Mary J. Blige & Smif-N-Wessun and rolled into Heather B, Fat Joe, Gang Starr, Large Professor, Lord Finesse, Ed O.G., Main Source, Diamond D, Showbiz & A.G., Artifacts, Funkdoobiest, and Mobb Deep.

From there it moved into Roc-A-Fella and The Diplomats territory — Jay-Z, Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Cam’ron — alongside AZ, Nas, Cormega, Capone-N-Noreaga, Sean Price, Heltah Skeltah, and O.G.C. Crews, collaborations, and verses that still hit just as hard today.
