This week’s Freedom Thursday was all energy from the jump. I opened with a heavy double from Ruff Ryders, set the tone with raw lyricism and grit, and kept the pressure high. After the first blast of hardcore hip hop, the show smoothed into a classic Pac Div joint, Slum Village, and a fresh flip of “She Said.” To close out the first hour, I brought in the MCs who speak KNOWLEDGE, and then i capped it out with a stand-up double from Dead Prez that shook the room.

Hour two opened with RES and “Golden Boys,” then slid into alternative soul before Sol ChYld carried us right back to the hip hop realm. Joey Purp dropped in with Southside energy, followed by a powerful run through Wu-Tang, GZA, Conductor Williams, and the heavy Sunzilla beat. Slick Rick smoothed the edges with pure storytelling, Cici and Drake kept the flow tight, Lootpack brought the classic, and we closed the night strong with Polyrhythm Addicts.
A full, top to bottom ride. that was dynamic, sharp, and rooted in culture.
