To open 2026, I wanted Africa Incorporated to breathe. No pressure, no chaos, just rhythm, soul, and flow. This show was designed as a musical cleanser, a way to reset energy and step into the new year with intention and grace. Soulful house felt like the only language that made sense for that moment.
I began the session with Shaun Escoffery’s Days Like This in the Spinna and Ticklah mix, a reminder that house music has always been rooted in feeling and affirmation. From there, Tortured Soul and DJ Spinna carried the mood forward, blending live instrumentation with deep house sensibilities that sit perfectly between soul and dance culture.
Black Motion and Black Coffee brought warmth and elevation into the mix, connecting Afro house rhythms with emotional depth. Those selections always feel expansive, grounded, and spiritual without forcing the moment. DJ Spinna’s remix of Betty Carter was a personal highlight, merging jazz legacy with modern house movement in a way that feels timeless.
As the show unfolded, I leaned into textures from Mobi Dixon, The Internet, and Maurice Joshua, keeping the energy smooth but intentional. Amapiano elements from Mzu M, Zan’Ten, and Djy Biza added a subtle bounce, while Terry Hunter and Raheem DeVaughn helped close the loop with soul driven intimacy.
This was not about chasing peaks. It was about flow, clarity, and starting 2026 in a way that felt honest and elevated. Africa Incorporated continues to be a space where rhythm meets culture, and this opening session set the tone for what’s ahead.
