This episode of Africa Incorporated was built as an Early Warning Show for Hip Hop fans in Prague.

Over the next couple of months the city will be hosting a strong lineup of artists from across the Hip Hop spectrum. Some of them are new generation voices, others are legendary groups that helped shape the culture. I wanted to put together a session that introduces or reminds listeners who these artists are before they hit the stage in Prague.

The show opened with Thundercat, whose blend of funk, soul and Hip Hop energy has made him one of the most interesting musicians of the modern era. From there we moved into the sharp lyricism of JID and Mick Jenkins, two artists who represent the newer wave of thoughtful Hip Hop writing.

We also touched on the underground foundations with Cali Agents, the legendary duo of Planet Asia and Rasco, whose music helped define West Coast independent Hip Hop in the late 1990s.

The mix continued with a wide range of styles, from the experimental sound of By Storm to the raw independent energy of Snak the Ripper, and the crossover sound of Trippie Redd.

Toward the end of the show we tapped into classic Hip Hop groups like The Beatnuts, whose gritty production helped shape the sound of New York in the 90s. Then we moved into two artists who always bring explosive stage energy: Redman and M.O.P.
