Freedom Thursday is where the format disappears and the music speaks freely. This episode of The Ride With ChuckDiesal traveled across eras, emotions, and cities with intention.

We opened with a smooth instrumental from Crooks Inc that immediately set the tone. From there we leaned into soulful and alternative textures led by strong female voices. KELS, Olivia Dean, Ella Mai, and Rihanna carried the early stretch with balance and feeling. It was warm. It was melodic. It was grown.

Then we slid back into time.

The first hour shifted into the high level R&B era of the 90s. Lo-Key, Portrait, Hi-Five, Aaron Hall, Guy, H-Town, Special Generation, and 112 brought back that pure love music energy. Harmonies, live instrumentation, real songwriting. The kind of records that defined a generation and still resonate today.

The second hour changed pace with a DJ Quik throwback to reset the temperature. From there we ran a focused Chicago set featuring The Cool Kids, Mikkey Halsted, King Louie, and G Herbo. The sound moved from groove to grit without losing cohesion. It was a reminder of how deep Chicago’s Hip Hop roots run.

From the streets of Chicago we transitioned into feel music and lyrical craftsmanship. Grand Puba, Q-Tip, Oddisee, De La Soul, and Pharoahe Monch brought perspective and rhythm. Tyler The Creator’s RUNITUP delivered pure anthem energy. We closed the night with Victory from Puff Daddy, a record that still sounds cinematic decades later.

This Freedom Thursday had something for everyone. Soul. Love. Street narratives. Conscious bars. Anthems. Hits across generations.
