Sometimes life gets in the way, but the music never stops. I wasn’t able to bring you New Music Tuesday on Tuesday, and there was no way I was letting these records back up. With another queue already waiting, it was time to get these fresh releases on the air.

We opened the ride with a smooth blend of soul and R&B through Thee Sinseers, The Womack Sisters, Khamari, Olympia Vitalis, Flwr Chyld, A.G. Sully, Jaz Karis, Masego and Naomi Sharon. Adam Lambert added a burst of pop energy before Nia Archives delivered another one of her signature uptempo records. It was a first hour built on melody, groove and discovery before reggae and dancehall stepped into the spotlight. Jahmiel, Beenie Man, Capleton, Damian Marley, Stephen Marley and Derrick Sound helped close the hour with conscious lyrics and Caribbean flavor.

The second hour opened with one of my favorite albums released this week, FATHERS from Nate Smith, Kiefer, CARRTOONS and Kenny Beats. The instrumental chemistry and musicianship on that project made it the perfect bridge into an hour driven by hip hop. DJ Premier and The Alchemist linked up once again, while JAY-Z and Blue Ivy reminded us that great records have no expiration date.

From there the bars kept coming. Lute, Buckshot, Dave East, Styles P, Harry Fraud, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Stove God Cooks, Raz Fresco, ANKHLEJOHN, Chuck Strangers, northside lord, Juicy J, Project Pat and Fendi P all brought their own styles to another strong run of hip hop. The show slowed down only at the very end with carolesdaughter, giving the afternoon one final change of pace before the ride came to a close.

Sometimes the schedule changes, but the mission stays the same—bringing you the best new music from every corner of the culture.
