This edition of Africa Incorporated #126 “Love, Soul & Dance Floor Classics!” went back to music made before 2000, with most of the show living right inside the 80s and 90s.

We started with Kashif and Whitney Houston on “Are You the Woman,” before Brian McKnight, Babyface and After 7 settled us into that smooth R&B and love ballad feeling.

From there, we got into that period when Hip Hop and R&B were really feeding off each other. Jody Watley connected with Eric B. & Rakim on “Friends,” Vanessa Williams brought Black Sheep into “Work to Do,” and Mary J. Blige joined forces with Smif-N-Wessun for the remix of “I Love You.” Three different records showing how naturally Hip Hop could slide into an R&B record without taking away the Soul.

Then we kept moving through the past with Jeffrey Osborne and Johnny Gill before turning toward the dance floor.

Change gave us “The Glow of Love,” D Train brought “You’re the One for Me,” and The S.O.S. Band’s “Just Be Good to Me” helped bring the show home.

That’s really what this hour was about. Love songs, Soul, Hip Hop and R&B connections, and those records from the past that can still make people get up and MOVE!

Different moods without leaving the feeling behind.
