This edition of Africa Incorporated started smooth and then turned RIGHT into Hip Hop.

Moonchild opened the show with “Nothing to Prove,” featuring Rae Khalil and Brittney Carter, giving us that smooth Soul feeling before Organized Konfusion completely changed the direction with “Let’s Organize.” From there, Da Bush Babees and Artifacts kept us planted in that Hip Hop foundation.

Add-2 kept the flow moving before Sa-Roc and Black Thought stepped in with “The Black Renaissance.” Then Sol Messiah brought Che Noir, Lyric Jones and Sa-Roc together on “The Hard Way.” Different MCs, different voices, but the BARS stayed at the center of the show.

We kept that going with 7xvethegenius, Milly Mango and Cellus Hamilton with Brittney Carter, letting some newer voices sit comfortably beside the foundation that came earlier.

Then it was time to change the temperature again.

Samara Cyn joined Amelia Moore, Absolutely and Coco Jones on the remix of “see through,” and ROE’s “Take It All The Way” helped guide us back toward the R&B and Soul side of the show.

From there, Babyface and Ella Mai brought “Keeps On Fallin’,” followed by Kelis with “Get Along With You,”before Faith Evans brought us home with “You Used to Love Me.”

That’s the beauty of this show for me. I don’t need the entire hour to sit in one place. We can start smooth, turn the corner into straight Hip Hop, spend some time with MCs who have something to SAY, and then find our way back into Soul.

Different sounds, one FLOW. That’s Africa Incorporated!
