Some artists make songs.
Others build whole environments around them.
FKJ falls into that second category.
On October 23, the French producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist brings his new Tyber chapter to ARCHA+ in Prague, with Richie Griner opening the night. The new album is being described as a fresh chapter in FKJ’s music, continuing the blend of soul, funk, alternative pop and electronic sounds that has made him stand apart. Archa Plus
I first came across FKJ through his collaborations with Masego, and that connection made perfect sense immediately.
Both of them live in that space where jazz musicianship, groove, improvisation and modern production all meet without feeling forced.
If jazz is already in your bloodstream, there is a very good chance FKJ is going to make sense to you.
🎷 THIS IS MUSIC THAT MOVES
The thing that always caught me about FKJ is that the music never feels boxed into one genre.
There is soul in it.
There is funk.
There is jazz.
There is electronic production.
There are moments that feel almost ambient, then he flips into something rhythmic enough to make the whole room move.
That freedom is part of what makes his live performances special.
He is not simply standing onstage running through tracks.
FKJ moves between instruments, builds layers, lets songs breathe and creates the kind of performance where you actually watch the music being constructed in front of you.
ARCHA+ describes his concerts as highly visual and almost cinematic, with each song creating its own world. Archa Plus
That is the kind of show I want to see.
🎹 IF YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND FKJ, WATCH THIS
One of the videos I am embedding into this post is:
FKJ | Ylang Ylang EP – Live Session
This is FKJ in his studio playing through the entire Ylang Ylang EP.
And honestly, that video probably explains his appeal better than me simply throwing genre names at you.
Watch how he moves through the instruments.
Watch how relaxed everything feels.
Watch how the production develops without losing the human side of the music.
There is musicianship happening everywhere, but it never feels like he is showing off just to prove he can play.
It serves the mood.
That is what I appreciate.
🎶 A NEW CHAPTER: TYBER
The Prague show comes with FKJ moving into a new period through the album Tyber.
His recent song “Soulmates” deals with embracing solitude while also valuing the people closest to you. That balance between intimacy and connection fits naturally into the kind of music FKJ has been creating for years. Archa Plus
The album itself was shaped across several places, including Brazil, Mexico and the United States, while still carrying the French musical identity that has followed Vincent Fenton throughout his career. Archa Plus
That international influence is another reason his sound is hard to reduce to one box.
And I do not think it needs one.
🎷 THE MASEGO CONNECTION
My introduction to FKJ came through his work with Masego.
That says a lot about what drew me in.
Masego brings that jazz mentality into modern Soul and R&B, and FKJ works from a similar instinct. There is room for improvisation. There is space inside the arrangements. Instruments are not decorations sitting behind the vocals—they are part of the conversation.
When musicians like that collaborate, you can hear both personalities without one swallowing the other.
That was my doorway into FKJ’s music.
Then once you start digging through his own catalog, you realize there is a much larger world sitting there.
🌈 THIS SHOULD BE A BEAUTIFUL LIVE SHOW
There are concerts where the whole goal is maximum impact from the opening second.
This feels different.
FKJ’s music has space.
It has intimacy.
It has groove.
It has those little musical details that pull you deeper the longer you listen.
That makes ARCHA+ an interesting room for him.
It is large enough to carry a real production, but intimate enough that the small musical decisions should still matter.
Richie Griner will open the evening, giving the night another musical layer before FKJ takes over. The Prague show is presented by Fource Entertainment. Archa Plus
🚨 IF YOU LOVE JAZZ, DON’T OVERTHINK THIS ONE
That does not mean FKJ is a jazz artist in the traditional sense.
He isn’t.
But if what you love about jazz is musicianship, improvisation, exploration and the feeling that a song can change shape while it is happening, then this show should connect with you.
Add soul, funk, electronic music and modern production to that foundation, and now you are getting closer to what FKJ does.
For me, that is the attraction.
You are not simply waiting to hear one hit.
You are going to watch a musician build an experience.
