NEW MUSIC TUESDAY! NEW WEEKLY FLAVOR!! 🎶🔥🌍

This week’s Ride was SOULFUL, ELECTRIC and ALL OVER THE MUSICAL MAP!

And that’s exactly how I like it!

We crossed boundaries, explored cultures, switched rhythms and brought together a collection of new music that reminded us just how many different directions a two-hour musical journey can take.

COUNTRY, SOUL, JAZZ, R&B, HOUSE, AMAPIANO, HIP HOP, REGGAE & AFROBEATS!

The doors were OPEN, and the MUSIC was flowing!

HOUR ONE: COUNTRY ROOTS, SOULFUL GROOVES & SOUTH AFRICAN HEAT!

I decided to open the show with K. Michelle and “Damn Good Friend” from Jesus & Whiskey.

Now, K. Michelle has been known for her R&B for years, but she’s showing the world that she’s a TRUE COUNTRY GAL! And I wanted to start this week’s New Music Tuesday by giving that musical side of her some shine.

From Country, we stepped straight into the SOUL!

Angela Muñoz brought “Forest Fire” from Descanso, followed by Nao with “Eugene.” Both records carried that beautiful soulful energy into the studio, and the Ride was already finding its groove.

Full Crate & Samoht followed with “Lately,” bringing another layer of modern R&B production into the mix.

Then we stepped into some beautiful Jazz territory with Telemakus & Sparklmami on “June’s Peace.”

THE SOUL PRODUCTION WAS COOKING!

Smile High, Kéo & Cocoa Sarai continued with “Fly Free,” Halle Tomlinson brought “Gold,” and then Chlöe, Timbaland & Monaleo came through with the “Main Attraction (Remix).”

Lucky Daye & Pusha T followed with “Mouf Say,” keeping that contemporary R&B energy moving while adding a little extra attitude!

But then I decided it was time to SWITCH THINGS UP!

DJ SCRATCH TOOK US ELECTRIC!! ⚡

DJ Scratch came through with “Electric Stew (We Can Get Down),” featuring Terry Hunter & Teefa, in Terry Hunter’s remix from The Pivot.

BOOM BAP MEETS HOUSE MUSIC!

That was the moment we stepped away from the traditional Soul and R&B grooves and moved into something built for the DANCE FLOOR!

And since we were already moving, why not take that energy across the globe?

NEXT STOP: SOUTH AFRICA!! 🇿🇦

TitoM brought “Linton’s Corner” featuring Miso More from Jazz Series, and we were officially into those AMAPIANO rhythms!

Karabo Small, Pale Moloi & Bless Maano followed with “Inhliziyo,” keeping that South African groove moving.

I love how these records connect the dance floor to African musical traditions while creating something completely their own.

DIFFERENT CULTURE, DIFFERENT RHYTHM, SAME MUSICAL CONNECTION!

After that excursion, Yaahn Hunter Jr. & The Pocket Queen brought us back toward those Jazz and Soul influences with “Don’t Leave.”

Misha, Lyric Jones, BeMyFiasco & Triple H Horns followed with “Pushin’ On” from Dreamwaves, bringing some beautiful musicianship into the mix.

And to close out the first hour, I went with Faye Meana and “All This Time” from I Meant To Say.

A little Bossa Nova flavor to bring everything down SMOOTH!

COUNTRY TO SOUL TO HOUSE TO AMAPIANO AND BACK AGAIN!

That’s how we finished the first hour!

HOUR TWO: THE HIP HOP STORE WAS OPEN!! 🎤🔥

Now it was time to get into those BARS!

And I wanted to open with a combination of MCs who know exactly what to do when they get behind the microphone.

STATIK SELEKTAH, AB-SOUL, RAEKWON & FREDDIE GIBBS!

“Champagne Wishes” from Expensive Taste was how we kicked things off!

WHAT A LINEUP!

Then Tierra Whack came through with “STRAWBERRY” from WHACK’S MUSEUM (DELUXE), followed by Seph Pablo with “I KNOW.”

King Tetrus brought “Ain’t Loggin in,” and Loyalty Is Timeless followed with “Daddy Knows.”

I was enjoying the different approaches to Hip Hop production and delivery. Some records brought that familiar grit, while others were experimenting with newer sounds and flows.

Mutant Academy, Big Kahuna OG, Henny L.O. & ewonee stepped in with “Surrendered” from We’ll Swap It out, Vol. 2.

THAT UNDERGROUND HIP HOP ENERGY WAS DEFINITELY PRESENT!

Then A$AP Rocky came through with “Shroom Clouds” featuring reggie & Jeremih, bringing another musical texture into the mix.

Pulp Cruz & JUNIE. followed with “big bro,” before we got into a collaboration I was looking forward to sharing.

CHE NOIR & BLACK THOUGHT!

“Fame & Fiction!”

TWO SERIOUS LYRICISTS ON ONE RECORD!

This is one of the things I love about New Music Tuesday. We get to explore different sounds while still giving those artists who are dedicated to the craft of MCing their proper shine!

But we weren’t finished crossing boundaries!

FROM HIP HOP TO REGGAE & AFROBEATS! 🌍🔥

After that stretch of Hip Hop, I decided to move the Ride into some REGGAE!

Jah Lil brought “2nd Time Around,” followed by Sevana with “Fight Fi Di Love.”

Two fresh records that gave us a change of rhythm while keeping that musical energy alive!

And then it was time to head back to AFRICA!

Fireboy DML stepped in with “ONE MAN REGIMENT” from ZUKO!, followed by Blaqbonez with “MAZZA” from NOMADINHO: 4TH PRIME.

AFROBEATS WAS IN THE BUILDING!

Taene continued with “Jealous,” and Victony & Summer Walker brought “SLICK,” the remix featuring Don Toliver.

I love this part of the Ride because it demonstrates how much music is moving between cultures right now. African artists are connecting with American R&B and Hip Hop artists, and those collaborations are creating some serious sounds!

But after all that movement, I wanted to bring the show back down with a smoother landing.

Merges stepped in with “Another State,” followed by Kaicrewsade with “AHHHH****” from RAINBOW_.

And we closed the show with Rob V and “Boots” from Stop Chasing Loose Leaves.

ANOTHER NEW MUSIC TUESDAY IN THE BOOKS!!

NEW MUSIC. NEW CULTURES. NO BOUNDARIES!

Think about the journey we took this week.

We opened with K. Michelle showing us her Country roots, then moved through Angela Muñoz, Nao, Full Crate, Telemakus and a collection of soulful voices and productions.

DJ Scratch turned the energy ELECTRIC, and we crossed the ocean into South African Amapiano before closing the first hour with Misha and Faye Meana.

Then came the HIP HOP!

Statik Selektah, Ab-Soul, Raekwon, Freddie Gibbs, Tierra Whack, A$AP Rocky, Mutant Academy, Che Noir and Black Thought were just some of the artists bringing the BARS!

We followed that with Reggae from Jah Lil and Sevana, then Afrobeats from Fireboy DML, Blaqbonez, Taene and Victony before bringing everything home with some smoother sounds.

SO MANY STYLES, SO MANY CULTURES, SO MUCH GOOD MUSIC!

That’s what I love about doing this show. Every Tuesday is another opportunity to discover something different, connect some musical dots and share those discoveries with listeners around the world!

This is what New Music Tuesday does… finding what’s new and showcasing it for the masses!

Good music as always… KEEP RIDING WITH DIESAL!! 🎶🔥
