Freedom Thursday started with straight Hip Hop and an opening hour built around beats, bars and real flows. Kanye West, Gang Starr, Jeru The Damaja, Common, northside lord, DMX, Lupe Fiasco and more kept the foundation strong. We also worked Jhené Aiko, Swae Lee, French Montana and Timbaland into the ride without losing that Hip Hop energy.

Then hour two completely opened up. Oliver Dollar helped us make the transition before Roy Ayers, Orlando Riva Sound and Incognito moved us through Dance, Soul and House. From there, BRELAND brought Country into the conversation before Shaboozey & Leon Bridges continued that journey with “Burn It Down.”

Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators gave us pure Soul before we went directly to the Blues with Muddy Waters. Then why not jump into some ’80s Pop? Wham! and Culture Club came through before Lenka and T.S. Monk helped us finish the show back on the Dance tip.

That’s the whole idea behind Freedom Thursday. One hour can be rooted deeply in Hip Hop and the next can take us through Soul, House, Country, Blues, Pop and Dance. No musical walls, just good music and wherever The Ride takes us!
