This Africa Incorporated session was built around movement and intention. I opened the show firmly rooted in Hip Hop, letting lyric driven records set the tone before gradually shifting the energy. As the hour unfolded, the sound softened and expanded, moving into alt soul textures, warm house elements, and eventually landing in deep soul territory.
Artists like Childish Gambino, Gang Starr, Queen Latifah, and Crooklyn Dodgers carried the foundation early on, reminding us how Hip Hop has always been about voice and presence. From there, the transition felt natural. Records by The Foreign Exchange, Kindred the Family Soul, Anthony David, and Phonte brought the emotion forward, allowing space, melody, and feeling to take control.
This is why I explore music the way I do. Not to separate genres, but to show how they speak to each other. Hip Hop does not disappear when the tempo changes. It evolves, it breathes, and it shows up differently. Africa Incorporated is about tracing those lines and letting culture tell the story without forcing the moment.
