New Music Tuesday started with something personal this week. After seeing ÃO live in Prague this past Saturday, there was NO WAY I wasn’t opening The Ride with their new single “Sofrimento!” From there I slid straight into Soul and R&B with Sipprell, Meshell Ndegeocello & Robert Glasper, Soulaan Marie, Lalah Hathaway, Victoria Monét, Tinashe, Alex Isley, Joyce Wrice and DaniLeigh before Afrobeats entered the picture with Tml Vibez, Seyi Vibez and BNXN. Queen Omega and Bob Marley brought the Reggae before Yiiinka gave me that smooth jazzy feel to close the first hour. Hour two got electric with MNEK, then we moved through another blend of R&B, Afro sounds and Electronic before THE HIP HOP STORE WAS OPEN! Kofi Stone, Nyla Symone, MARCO PLUS, Kai Ca$h, Reuben Vincent, Akintoye and OT The Real brought the bars before I took the Ride back across the water with Young Jonn, DJ Tunez, Terry Apala and Blaqbonez, then Mr. Vegas, Sharrie & Voiceful finished it with some Dancehall/Reggae energy. Another Tuesday where one sound was never going to be enough. This is what New Music Tuesday does… finding what’s new and showcasing it for the masses!
