Soulful Beginnings, African Rhythms & Hip Hop Heat!

Another New Music Tuesday in the books, and the genres were popping! Two hours of fresh music, new discoveries, and some serious Hip Hop releases that deserved attention. That’s what I love about Tuesdays: there’s always something new waiting to be heard, and I’m bringing it straight to the airwaves.

I opened the first hour with INDIA BLUE & Hilts and their soulful collaboration Hold Me Close, setting the atmosphere before moving into NAO’s Fly Away from Autumn. John Legend teamed up with Clipse on Bodies On The Floor, while Mahalia, Snoh Aalegra, Halle Tomlinson, and Jessie Reyez kept the R&B vibrations flowing.

There was plenty of room to explore. Hang Linton brought some alternative flavor with the TOWER, while Laila!, VEDO, and KiKi Celine added their own energy to the mix. Different voices, different styles, but everything connected through the music.

Then it was time to take a trip to Africa!

Mavo brought the Afrobeats with Goyard, followed by Black Motion, Spice Drums, LIVIN SZ & Joe Nina on Izulu lam (My Heaven). From there, Thakzin, Mpho.Wav, Atmos Blaq & Tete delivered Maphorisa, bringing that African House energy into the studio. Those rhythms have a way of taking over, and I wasn’t about to interrupt the movement!

Second Hour – Hip Hop Wasn’t Playing Around!

A lot of new albums and singles dropped, and you already know I was digging into them!

De La Soul, Mos Def, Truth Enola & J Dilla helped bridge the transition with Stakes Is High (J Dilla Remix). From there, Che Noir brought This Morning, Anderson .Paak & Cordae delivered Crown, and Mez linked with Deante’ Hitchcock and T.I. for Way Too Much.

The underground was well represented, with Justo the MC & Geoff Roy, Mathematics alongside Wu-Tang affiliates, Young Chris, and Armani Caesar featuring Benny the Butcher. Westside Gunn came through with ZILLA, followed by Millyz, Jadakiss, Dave East & Styles P on No Favors. That’s a serious collection of voices bringing different approaches to the culture.

Daniel Son & MANZU BEATZ kept things moving with DANNY OCEAN, while Boldy James, Hit-Boy & The Alchemist delivered more of those beats and rhymes I love bringing to the audience.

And we weren’t finished!

Spice 1 brought some West Coast flavor with V.S.O.G, followed by MC Eiht’s AGAIN & AGAIN from The Story of My Life. Chicago’s own femdot. linked with Thelonious Martin on Patagonia, and REASON rounded out the selections with I Got Problems.

From soulful melodies to African dance floors and straight into the underground Hip Hop scene, this show traveled across sounds, generations, and continents without losing the groove.

This is what New Music Tuesday does… finding what’s new and showcasing it for the masses!
