Some shows you attend because you know the music.

Some shows surprise you because of the people.

Akon and Ne-Yo’s stop at the O2 Arena in Prague turned out to be both.

Going into the show, I knew the catalog would be strong. Between these two artists, there are decades of hit records that helped shape the sound of R&B and Pop music for an entire generation. What I didn’t expect was how much fun it would be simply watching the crowd.

The arena was packed with young women who were absolutely locked into every moment of the performance. From the opening songs to the final encore, the energy never dipped. Fans sang every lyric, danced in the aisles, and reacted to every appearance as if they were seeing old friends step onto the stage.

The format of the show worked perfectly. Rather than separating the artists into completely different sections of the night, Akon and Ne-Yo shared the spotlight, taking turns performing some of their biggest records. The result was a nonstop stream of familiar songs that kept the audience engaged from beginning to end.

Ne-Yo reminded everyone why he remains one of R&B’s premier entertainers. Songs like So SickCloserKnock You Down, and Give Me Everything had the audience singing at full volume. His show was polished, professional, and packed with choreography, talented musicians, and standout vocal performances from his supporting cast.

One of the most memorable moments came when Ne-Yo stepped aside and gave his background singers the spotlight. Brian, Ashley, and Pam each took center stage and showed exactly why they are part of the production. It was a classy move that gave the audience a chance to appreciate the talent supporting the headliner.

Akon brought a different type of energy. His set felt like a celebration. Whether performing LonelyDon’t MatterDanza Kuduro, or I Wanna Love You, he kept the crowd engaged and constantly moving. One of the night’s coolest moments came when he performed from an elevated platform surrounded by fans in the middle of the arena, creating a connection that made the massive venue feel surprisingly intimate.

The production itself was impressive from top to bottom.

Aerial performers Hotsauce and Shadow delivered stunning performances high above the crowd during Ne-Yo’s set, turning songs into full visual experiences. The lighting, staging, choreography, and pacing all worked together to create a show that felt complete.

Then there were the Les Twins.

As someone who appreciates performance, movement, and stagecraft, it was a pleasure watching them work. Their timing, creativity, and effortless ability to command attention added another layer to Akon’s performance. Even when sharing the stage with a global superstar, they found ways to make audiences appreciate the artistry of dance.

Unfortunately, cameras were not allowed inside, so these photos were captured on my iPhone rather than my usual photography equipment. While they may not be my strongest images technically, they still help tell the story of a memorable evening and capture the atmosphere inside the arena.

Video Highlights

The combination of Akon’s performance and the appearance of Les Twins made this one of the standout moments of the night.

Ne-Yo’s performance of So Sick was elevated even further by aerial performers moving above the stage and crowd, creating one of the most visually striking moments of the evening.

Some concerts are remembered because of a single song.

Others are remembered because of a single performance.

This one will stick with me because of the atmosphere. Watching thousands of people completely invested in the experience, singing every lyric, dancing with friends, and enjoying a night out with two artists whose music has stood the test of time reminded me why live music continues to matter.

Prague showed up.

Akon and Ne-Yo delivered.
