Some days in live radio everything falls perfectly into place, and some days you adjust on the fly. My systems weren’t completely in sync for this New Music Tuesday, so the musical journey wasn’t layered exactly the way I normally build it, but the mission stayed the same: find the new heat and get it on the air!

We started with Majid Jordan before moving through Rich Brian, Russ, Henry James, DESTIN CONRAD and Josh Levi. From there the show bounced through different sounds with Reggae, R&B, Afrobeats and the South African Gqom energy of Mr Thela & Zuko SA. Fireboy DML & Masicka, Darkoo & Asake and MOLIY with Shenseea, Skillibeng & Silent Addy all helped keep the first hour moving.

Then it was time for the beats and bars. Yo-Yo opened the door before Inspectah Deck’s Dragon’s Breath demanded attention. That album was a masterpiece and easily one of my favorite hip hop projects of the week, so I had to reach into it twice. Benny the Butcher, Bugzy Malone, Styles P, G-Eazy & Logic, AG Club and others kept the hip hop flowing before Victoria Monét and Ravyn Lenae brought the soul back into the mix.

Rapsody and Remi Wolf helped close out a show that might not have followed my normal blueprint, but that’s the beauty of live radio. You adjust, keep pushing and trust the music. New Music Tuesday still delivered the heat!
