New Music Tuesday started with the African House energy of UNLIMITED SOUL, Boips & Musical Jazz before we slid into the soul side of the show. While I was talking, I had to let that 14KT Janet flip breathe for a minute! From there, Gotts Street Park & Celeste, Cyanca, Dinner Party, Amindi, Children of Zeus & Knucks, Denise Julia and Tkay Maidza & Jenevieve kept the soulful vibrations flowing.

As the first hour developed, we shifted toward Reggae, Afrobeats and Dancehall flavors. Juls had one of the projects that caught my attention this week, so JUNCTION earned the double tap with “TRUST ISSUES” and “WEEKEND.” Laila! & Teezo Touchdown then brought the first hour home with “ANGEL.”

Hour two started exactly where I wanted it—with Erykah Badu & The Alchemist and “Witch Doctor.” Their long-awaited album finally arrives August 28, and you already know I’m waiting to hear what Erykah and AL cooked up together! Then we moved directly into the Hip Hop bag with Recoechi, Brittney Carter & 14KT, Hit-Boy, Nipsey Hussle & Bino Rideaux, Paul Wall & Termanology, Mick Jenkins, Kurupt & DJ Battlecat, The Musalini & 9th Wonder and more.

Clark D also delivered a strong project with A DREAM FOR A DOLLAR, earning two plays during the second hour. Bugzy Malone brought the Daily Duppy energy before Denzel Curry & Kenny Beats featuring Yebba helped close another show full of new discoveries.
