Some events you attend for the headliner. Others you attend because you know exactly what kind of people will be in the room. The DMC Czech & Slovakia DJ Championship gives you both, and after experiencing it firsthand last year, I’m looking forward to getting back in there.

Picture an old-school movie theater transformed into a gathering place for DJs. Inside, competitors from the Czech Republic and Slovakia are working the turntables, bringing their routines, scratching, beat juggling and creativity to the stage. Outside in the lobby, some of the biggest names in DJ equipment have their gear set up, and you can actually get your hands on it.

That’s what caught my attention last year. It wasn’t just about watching a competition. It was an opportunity to spend the day inside a community of people who genuinely love the craft of DJing.

🎧 Last Year Was Something Special!

I came through in 2025 with my camera, documenting the championship, the competitors and the performances. The Classic final gave us DJ Simonczech taking the title, while DJ Tentato claimed the Scratch championship. Both earned their opportunity to represent the Czech and Slovak scene at the world finals in Tokyo. 

Then came the showcases, with DJ Fly, DJ Swordz and DJ Mike One showing exactly what happens when years of dedication meet a pair of turntables. Watching those routines inside an intimate movie theater was a completely different experience from seeing a DJ working a massive festival stage. You could appreciate every movement, every transition and every technical decision.

I captured plenty of it, and I’m sharing some of those moments right here so you can see what I’m talking about.

🎛️ The Lobby Is Where the Conversations Start

One of my favorite parts of the event happens before you even get into the competition.

The movie theater lobby becomes a DJ equipment playground, with turntables, mixers, consoles, cartridges, cables and plenty of other gear on display. Last year, I got to move between different setups, check out the technology and have conversations with people who actually understand what they’re using.

We’re talking Technics, Rane, Denon, AlphaTheta and other manufacturers, with the chance to explore the equipment instead of just reading about it online. The 2025 exhibition also included demonstrations, workshops and an open scratch session. 

This year, the announced exhibition brings those names back alongside Union Audio, Allen & Heath, Gemini, JICO, Decksaver and Oyaide.

Whether you’re considering upgrading your equipment, learning how different mixers respond or simply interested in what is happening with DJ technology, you can spend a serious amount of time in that lobby.

And that’s before somebody starts scratching and everybody turns around to see who’s working the decks!

🔥 DJ Vekked Is Coming Through!

This year’s international guest is Canada’s DJ Vekked, a multiple-time world champion with a competition history that includes the 2015 DMC World Championship and a 2017 team world title alongside DJ Brace. 

Last year, we had DJ Fly bringing his championship-level skills to Brandýs. Now Vekked steps into that spotlight, adding another opportunity to watch an international turntablist perform up close.

And while the showcase is a major attraction, don’t overlook the people competing throughout the day. These are DJs representing their local scenes, putting hours of practice into routines that require timing, imagination and technical precision.

Czech turntable veteran DJ Friky will once again be hosting, keeping the competition moving and bringing his connection to the local DJ community into the room. He’s also listed as the Czech and Slovak branch manager by DMC. 

🎤 More Than a DJ Competition

What I appreciated most last year was how accessible everything felt. There were conversations happening everywhere, equipment to explore, people exchanging knowledge and an entire community coming together around the art of DJing.

That is something worth supporting.

You don’t need to be a championship DJ to enjoy this event. Maybe you have a pair of turntables at home, maybe you’re curious about learning to scratch, or maybe you simply love Hip Hop and want to experience what DJs can do when they’re given the opportunity to really show their skills.

Come through, watch the battles, talk to people, check out the equipment and enjoy the atmosphere. The 2026 program also includes workshops and a raffle, so there is plenty happening beyond the main competition.

With PRODANCE, CZ & SK DMC Championship and COLOR Music Radio involved, this is another opportunity to bring attention to a community that deserves to be seen beyond the usual club environment.
