This week’s #NewMusicTuesday show was a journey through sound, blending multiple genres in the first hour before diving deep into hip-hop for the second. It was a showcase of fresh music, legendary artists, and standout tracks that are shaping the scene right now.

The first hour had everything—from the jazz-infused remix work of Khruangbin to the electronic bounce of Shepard’s “Groove Remote.” Arooj Aftab’s hypnotic vocals took us on a trip, while R&B cuts from Tash and Jalen Ngonda kept things smooth. Afrobeats, alternative, modern dancehall—it was all in the mix, setting the stage for a powerful hip-hop takeover in hour two.

Chicago was definitely in the building with Saba & No I.D.’s From The Private Collection of Saba and No I.D., which is already in the conversation for hip-hop album of the year. Rufus Sims also brought heat with ILL Dirty Rufus, another standout release that had to get some shine.
