New Music Tuesday opened with smooth soul, jazz and R&B, setting the tone for another ride built around discovery. Gretchen Parlato and Robert Glasper eased listeners into the afternoon before Ama and Brent Faiyaz, Arin Ray and Zacari continued the soulful momentum. Chlöe and Timbaland’s new collaborative album also made an appearance, while Sekou delivered one of the standout soul projects of the week with Dangerous Lover. The first hour stayed warm, melodic and full of feeling.

From there the ride shifted toward Afrobeats, bringing vibrant rhythms and fresh energy through Magixx, Barry Jhay, Wande Coal and Suté Iwar. Each artist added a different perspective to the sound, making the transition from soul into African music feel completely natural before WILLOW, Everything Is Recorded, Peter Gabriel and IDK guided the show back toward alternative soul to close the opening hour.

The second hour belonged to hip hop. Wyclef Jean returned with one of the week’s strongest releases, blending storytelling with thoughtful production, making it an album worth spending time with. The Jungle Brothers also reminded listeners that pioneers still have something to say with their new EP, while Tyler, The Creator, T.I., GloRilla, Maiya The Don, Nicholas Craven and Boldy James continued a strong run of lyricism and creativity.

The closing stretch stayed true to the culture with RJ Payne, D12, Smoke DZA, Westside Gunn and Curren$y before easing listeners back into soul through Lucky Daye and Nia Smith. Ibeyi brought the final record of the afternoon, ending another New Music Tuesday that moved effortlessly through soul, R&B, Afrobeats and hip hop while continuing to introduce listeners to some of the best new music being released today.
