Cleo Sol is back, and Gentlewoman is delicious! We started New Music Tuesday with “Sweet Thing,” brought in Nia Smith, and then went right back to Cleo for the title track. From there, the first hour stayed deep in R&B and Soul with sunandmoon, Ogi & Anoop, Lucky Daye & Leon Thomas, Eric Bellinger, Girlfriend and Sinéad Harnett all adding their own flavor.

Then it was time to shift the sound. Ayra Starr and Niniola brought the Afrobeats before we moved into Reggae with DESTIN CONRAD, Richie Spice, D’yani and Garnett Silk. Beenie Man closed the first hour with “Bands,” giving us a strong finish before we flipped the page for hour two.

Ransom & Lloyd Banks came through the door with “Circumvention,” and from there the bars started flowing. Rapsody dropped a dope project, while Meduulla, Mick Jenkins, CK The Spitta, Denzel Curry & Kenny Beats, Ashoka, pat junior and others kept the Hip Hop moving. But The Game had my album of the week with The Documentary III, so I had to double tap it—first with Kanye West on “40 Nights,” then Black Thought & Cool & Dre on “I Won’t Be Afraid.”

Tha God Fahim and Mike Shabb kept us moving before Denzel Curry & Kenny Beats returned with JPEGMAFIA for “EVIL GRIN.” Then we changed the temperature completely. Jungle opened the final stretch, Riva Starr, Close Counters & Andre Espeut pushed us deeper into the electronic side, and Trinidadian Deep closed the show with “NYC Corner”, that single is FIRE!

Soul, R&B, Afrobeats, Reggae, Hip Hop and electronic sounds all found their place without one record or genre defining the whole show. This is what New Music Tuesday does… finding what’s new and showcasing it for the masses!
