The first New Music Tuesday of 2026 was about intention, direction, and setting the tone for the year ahead. I opened the show with back to back vocals from SAULT and Cleo Sol, grounding the first moments in warmth, message, and presence. SAULT’s new album and Cleo’s latest single felt like the right way to begin, letting the music breathe before the journey unfolded.

From there, the first hour stayed rooted in new soul and modern R&B. Jill Scott and Moonchild carried the emotional weight, while Ragz Originale’s new LP added depth and texture that should not be overlooked. Dina Ayada stood out as a key moment of the hour, earning a double tap as her album was easily one of the strongest releases of the week.

XG brought a sharp Korean R&B and pop edge that shifted the energy without breaking the flow. As the hour progressed, the sound leaned more electric, closing the first stretch with another XG record and Jordan Ward, keeping momentum high while staying intentional.

The second hour opened with Ras Kass, signaling a clear shift as hip hop took control. Bars, pressure, and message drove the middle of the show, with records that balanced lyricism and movement. As the set reached its final stretch, Afrobeat and dancehall energy entered naturally, allowing artists like Wizkid, Asake, and Caribbean voices to close the show with rhythm and forward motion.
