New Music Tuesday came in strong with soul leading the way, opening with Brian Jackson and setting a deep tone that carried into smooth R&B from Essosa, Stokley and Durand Bernarr. That first stretch stayed focused, with Tori Kelly and Otis Kane keeping the vocals front while the groove stayed steady.
The shift into electronic and house came naturally toward the end of the first hour, with Marshall Jefferson bringing that foundation and Afro house pushing the rhythm forward. It gave the set a wider feel without losing the soul that started it.
Second hour locked into hip hop and stayed there. Deante Hitchcock set the tone early, while Fat Nwigwe and Tobe Nwigwe delivered one of the standout moments of the show. New drops from AZ and Dave East kept the energy consistent, letting the music carry without forcing anything.
The close stayed in that same pocket, giving space for the records to land while keeping the momentum intact. This is what New Music Tuesday does best, balancing soul, rhythm and hip hop while highlighting what is new and worth hearing.
