This edition of Africa Incorporated opened with modern Jazz and musicianship at the forefront. Nubya Garcia’s “Lost Kingdoms” immediately established a rich foundation, showcasing why she has become one of the most important voices in contemporary Jazz. Terrace Martin followed with “Charger Chasing,” bringing together Jazz, Soul, and Hip Hop influences in a way that has become his signature sound. Blue Lab Beats continued that momentum, blending live instrumentation with modern production to create a smooth transition into the rest of the session.
The first half of the show remained rooted in groove and atmosphere. THEHONESTGUY added contemporary R&B textures while Iwaata and Kold AF helped bridge the gap toward more globally influenced sounds. The music remained relaxed, soulful, and intentional, allowing the journey to unfold naturally.
As the ride moved deeper into African sounds, artists like Libianca, Fuse ODG, and Tems showcased the melodic side of Afrobeats while maintaining strong connections to Soul and R&B traditions. Their music reflects the continued growth of African sounds on the global stage and demonstrates why Afrobeats continues to influence audiences around the world.
The Caribbean influence became increasingly present through records from Sean Kingston, Stylo G, Kardinal Offishall, and Wyclef Jean. Together, these artists highlighted the connections between Dancehall, Reggae, Hip Hop, and Caribbean culture while bringing familiar anthems and timeless grooves into the mix.
Closing the session with Lauryn Hill felt fitting. Few artists have been able to blend Soul, Hip Hop, and storytelling with the same level of impact. Her version of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” provided the perfect ending to a show built on musicianship, rhythm, and global influence.
From London Jazz clubs to African rhythms and Caribbean sounds, this episode traveled across continents while remaining connected through groove and soul.
