Another New Music Tuesday delivered a wide range of sounds while keeping the ride connected from beginning to end. The show opened with Outside Within and The Voices Within, bringing a soulful jazz foundation that immediately set the mood. From there the energy moved through pop and alternative territory with Charli XCX, Lizzo and the Moses Yoofee Trio helping establish an opening hour filled with discovery and movement.
The first hour continued through electronic textures from Nia Archives before Prince’s newly released project received some well deserved attention. Records from Izzy Day, Chxrry, Mariah the Scientist, Imani Imani and Phoenix James kept the R&B lane active, while Dreamer Isioma, Ama and Flwr Chyld added depth and variety. The result was a first hour that comfortably moved between soul, pop, jazz and modern R&B without losing direction.
As the show entered the second hour, hip hop took over. Tierra Whack, Vince Staples and 9th Wonder helped lead the charge, while Tobe Nwigwe continued to show why he remains one of the most unique voices in the culture. The energy stayed focused on bars, production and strong songwriting as Freddie Gibbs, Young M.A and Fakefree KP kept the momentum moving.
Part of the second hour included a stop at the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack, bringing together 21 Savage, Natanael Cano and French Montana for a global moment that fit naturally into the show. From there the ride remained in that hip hop pocket before gradually shifting back toward melody.
The closeout brought the energy back toward R&B through MALIA, Dreamer Isioma and Dante Swan before ending with Young Roddo. At only ten years old, Young Roddo delivered a record built around a healthy mindset and positive outlook, providing a fitting close to a show centered on discovery. From jazz and soul to pop, hip hop and R&B, this was another example of New Music Tuesday doing what it does best, finding what’s new and showcasing it for the masses.
