This edition of Africa Incorporated was Hip Hop from beginning to end. No detours and no distractions, just bars, beats, and artists who continue to represent the culture through lyricism and identity. The first half of the show was heavily influenced by the Midwest and East Coast, with Chicago helping lead the way.

Souls of Mischief opened the ride with “Disseshowedo,” reminding listeners why the early 1990s remain one of Hip Hop’s most celebrated eras. From there, Chicago’s own Philmore Greene stepped in with “94 Master P,” a record rooted in storytelling and perspective. Mickey Factz continued the momentum with thoughtful lyricism and precision, while the combination of Shawnna, Twista, and Ludacris brought together three artists whose careers helped define Southern and Midwestern Hip Hop during the 2000s.

As the session developed, the focus remained on emcees who value bars and craftsmanship. 3rd Bass represented an earlier generation of East Coast Hip Hop, while Navy Blue, Hi-Tek, and AZ demonstrated the continued importance of introspection, strong production, and lyrical depth. Edgar Allen Floe and Hus KingPin carried the underground spirit forward, proving that some of Hip Hop’s most compelling voices still thrive outside of mainstream conversations.

The latter portion of the ride continued moving across generations and regions. Planet Asia brought his trademark West Coast lyricism, Taylor Bennett represented another voice from Chicago’s new generation, and Keith Murray reminded listeners why energy and wordplay have always been essential parts of the culture. Closing with Onyx’s “Last Dayz” brought raw intensity and a sense of urgency that perfectly captured the spirit of the session.

This wasn’t a playlist built around trends or commercial moments. It was a celebration of Hip Hop’s ability to connect generations through bars, storytelling, and individuality. Different regions and different eras were represented, but the common thread remained the same: authenticity.

Hip Hop from top to bottom, old school to new school, with bars underlining the entire ride.
