This edition of Africa Incorporated was dedicated to Jamaican culture and the incredible musical legacy that continues to influence the world. While the journey began outside the island, the destination was clear from the very beginning: a celebration of Reggae, Dancehall, and the artists who have carried Jamaica’s voice across generations.

The show opened with Ezra Collective, whose blend of Jazz, Afrobeat, and contemporary British influences created a warm introduction before SWAVAY and Jayy Lav briefly steered the session through modern Hip Hop. Those opening selections acted as a bridge, preparing the way for the sounds of Jamaica to take over.

Once the transition was made, the island’s musical diversity became the focus. Koffee represented a new generation of artists carrying Reggae into the future, while Freddie McGregor reminded listeners why his voice has remained one of the genre’s most respected for decades. Zagga and Chronixx continued the journey with records that balanced modern production and conscious songwriting, demonstrating how Reggae continues to evolve while remaining connected to its roots.

The energy shifted naturally into Dancehall as Shenseea, Stefflon Don, Eesah & Million Stylez, Super Beagle, Lef Side & Esco, and Red Fox & Rayvon brought rhythm, personality, and unmistakable Jamaican swagger to the session. Each artist reflected a different era and interpretation of Dancehall, showing how the genre has continually reinvented itself while remaining one of Jamaica’s greatest cultural exports.

Ziggy Marley reminded us that Reggae has always been more than entertainment. Songs like “Racism Is a Killa” continue the tradition of using music to challenge injustice, encourage unity, and speak to issues that extend far beyond the Caribbean.

Closing with Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley’s “Welcome to Jamrock” felt like the perfect finale. More than twenty years after its release, it remains one of the defining anthems of modern Jamaican music, capturing both the beauty and complexity of the island while introducing millions of listeners to its culture.
